Viral Marketing - Why You Need it!
In order to win at the “get more traffic to your website” game you must use every tool and method at your disposal. If you are more diligent than your competition in vying for the targeted traffic, I promise you that you will not only win the traffic game but you will also have a better chance of winning the sales game.
Regardless of how beautiful your website is, or how great your product and services are. If you don’t bring traffic to your website then who will know. Every day more and more people are using online research before making purchases of any kind, whether they are products or services and this trend will only grow. If you are lost in the vast sea of internet websites then you don’t have much of a chance to succeed.
There are many methods used today to drive traffic to a website. One of them is known as Viral Marketing or Viral advertising. This type of marketing is used to build public awareness of your product or service. The easy way to remember this is to think of a cold. Colds are viral, meaning that they can spread easily from one person to another. That is what viral marketing does. It spreads your message, or brand from one person to another.
The reason that viral marketing works so well is because it is your friend who is telling or in our case is selling you. When you get an email from a friend you are going to open it and read what they have to say. If your friend thinks something is cool you are more likely to check it out than if I (who you don’t know) was to tell you how cool it is.
So how do you use Viral Advertising or marketing to your advantage? The goal is to gain as much publicity and awareness as possible. This way you are generating a flow of traffic that is targeted to your site. If you use a little ingenuity and imagination and maybe throw in some incentives or prizes, you can reach out to a great number of people and let them know you exist.
The scrapbooking industry is a highly viral industry. How did you find your first site? How many times have you gone to a site because a friend of yours said how great it was? How many times have you sent someone to a site that you liked? Have you ever seen a layout you liked and then searched for that person to see what other layouts they have produced? In the scrapbooking industry viral marketing works and that’s why you need it!
Here are a couple ideas you might use.
- Write a history of scrapbooking’s presence online. What were the earliest blogs and websites? What site was most popular? Is that site or blog still around?
- Offer a free service to anyone who asks, utilizing one of your skills and ask for nothing in return.
- Create and give away a free ebook. Be sure to pack it with value.
- Assemble a collection of amazing photos/scrapbook pages.
- Hold a contest.
You get the picture, right? Viral marketing is really a very simple concept. Figure out something that people can get involved with or something that might be highly controversial. These are the kinds of things that get people talking and once they start talking you will start getting visitors. From there it is your job to convert them into sales.
