How to succeed as a scrapbooking designer, artist, or consultant

Family History

When creating scrapbooks for others family history can be an important area. Many people wish to save their family history for the generations to come. You can help them with that in many ways. It can be visual, or written. Combining photographs and journaling are a perfect way to create family history pages.

Some of your customers will balk at your request to write something about their family history but assure them they do not have to be professional writers. There is no right or wrong way to provide the information to you. Don’t allow your customer to be overwhelmed by the amount or lack of information on their family. The important thing is to let future generations hear what they have to say, their memories or stories. It is not a novel and they do not have to have every scrap of information available to have you create a wonderful memory book for them.

Some important facts in a family history album might include:

  • Birth/marriage/death dates & locations.
  • Stories are a great way to keep alive the memories for years to come.
  • Photos are not absolutely necessary, however they can communicate the history of a family more completely. Although it’s great to have photos of each family member in the history it is not essential. You can use photos of places, old homes they lived in, their tombstone, marriage certificates, newspaper articles, etc. You get the picture (no pun intended).

These are some simple ideas that can help you to create heritage pages for the family history album. Heritage pages can increase your income easily since most people want to have as much information as possible to pass on. They are fun to do and really allow you to get to know your customer and their family.
